A Space Ship To Mars Birthday Partyby Joan Bramsch (c)1999When Billy was six-years old he ate, drank and slept spaceships. So when his birthday approached, along with his birthday party, I thought A SPACESHIP TO MARS theme would do nicely.
1. THE INVITATION: b) On the front I pasted a copy of a spaceship blasting off. In the window of the spaceship, who do you suppose peeked out, grinning and waving good bye? Of course... Young Astronaut Billy! c) A "rainbow" of color at the top of the card announced: BLAST OFF! d) Inside the invitation was printed as a COUNT DOWN: 4 -- LIFT OFF is at 1 pm. 3 -- REENTRY is at 4 pm. 2 -- ROCKET PAD is located at: 369 Your Street 1 -- Contact: 555-1212 -- Drinks from the Milky Way (Milk Shakes) -- Stars covered with Meteor Particles (red Star jello molds dusted with multi-colored sprinkles) -- Alien Eggs (jellybeans) The bandana to cover the player's eyes is "really" a piece of fabric from the touch-down parachute. THE RACING CLOUD CONTEST, ala white cotton balls picked up and carried in a spoon to a finish line. First line of 'astronauts' to complete the task wins. ROCKETSHIP TO MARS, ala learn to fold a neat racing paper airplane/rocket and, after several practice throws, the astronaut whose rocket lands farthest away from the start line wins. DRAW YOUR OWN ROCKETSHIP TO MARS. (the cooldown game) Provide large pieces of nice thick paper, new packs of crayons and a pack of large star stickers to each astronaut. They can lie on their bellies on the floor and draw to their hearts content while you gather up their party bags, etc. Everybody wins a prize on this one! |
