A REVERIES BOOK/JANUARY 2000

The last thing Dr Jon McCallem expected when he ventured down to the private
beach, was a gorgeous young woman standing knee-deep in the ocean, chopping
water reeds with a machete, while dancing and singing to the music of Willie
Nelson. The sight was a complete surprise, but one that Dr McCallem was
enjoying immensely - with cuttoffs that ended at her bottom, a thin wet
white shirt and lots of bouncing happening, he could have stayed and watched
all day.
Jenny Larson often came to her neighbour's private beach to collect her
paper-making supplies. Knowing that her neighbours only lived there during
their holidays Jenny hadn't been expecting company - which was why she was
dressed so informally while loudly collecting the water reeds.
It was a meeting that, once the embarrassment subsided, was destined to
change their lives.
Dr McCallem had come to recover from burn out and stress, while Jenny had
already had time to complete her own healing process in the years she had
lived there. When she learnt that he hadn't had a holiday in years and that
his work as a psychologist specialising in
'abused-child-and-spouse-syndrome' had started giving him nightmares she was
filled with compassion.
It became her mission, as his new friend, to teach him how to relax and have
fun - a skill he had forgotten after years of committed work. It was never
her intention to fall in love or have a summer romance - but their chemistry
was undeniable and his charm was on overdrive. How could she resist a
gorgeous, intelligent and vulnerable man who needed her like no-one ever had
before?
In his defence, Dr Jon McCallem had fallen in love with his sexy neighbour
almost the moment he set eyes on her. He wasn't out for a summer fling
either, he wanted Jenny Larson and a serious relationship. But what should
he do? His training told him she had been badly hurt, that she wasn't
ready - but his body and soul told him this could be their one chance at
happiness. If only he could put his own demons to rest long enough to
overcome her defences - perhaps then they stood a decent chance at love.
This is a good book with real characters, people who have experienced life
at it's worst yet haven't given in. Fighters who deserve a second chance, a
chance of happiness that only love can give.
